So no one ever wants to talk about the downfalls to working from home, but I'm going to put it out there. Although I wouldn't give it up for the world, you have to be prepared for the social isolation that can come from it. Yes, you can still get out and socialize with your friends in the evenings or weekend, but the lack of adult socialization throughout the day does tend to grow old after a while. Although I love being able to be home with my children, sometimes I find myself just begging for an adult to come over so I have someone to talk to.
You also have to be completely self motivated. At an office there are checks and balances in place that pretty much force you to perform well. At home it's only yourself, and your income. I had a friend who started working form home and within a month was sleeping in every day and wasn't getting anything done most days. Needless to say she is back at an office.
Working from home is definitely worth the effort, just be prepared to deal with the few negatives and you will do well.
